Hi, Umar here! I love touching laptops, unboxing them, and even smelling them! Maybe if I had enough money I would have bought every laptop in existence! Is It Worth Upgrading i5 to i7? Can you please let me know if I can add any graphics card or not. My wife use this laptop for graphics and video editing photoshops, lightroom, after effect, illustrator, premier pro. Hi Sudipta, Glad to have you as a reader!
Processor upgrade gets tricky and needs lots of due-diligence because every manufacturer has different configuration on their motherboard. So, No. Perhaps getting an SSD will give a boost! I thought of upgrading my RAM and Processor, could you please suggest me the best fit? Hi Shivanandana bhaiya I have an intel i3 process manufactured by hcl intel i but I am not able to find whether it is U or M or QM, it is not written after the processor name and anywhere, where can I find it?.
Please, help! Do you think either of these processors would work for me? So, it is worth giving a try. All the best!! Hi Sarang, glad you liked the post. For me, they are extinct.
Who uses them these days anyways right? Hi, I need help with my laptop. Lenovo Ideapad isk. Please help. Hey Sej. These itself should significantly increase the performance! Thanks for you experience. Have you install a bios modded, for this upgrade? Can I install cpu iM? The default bios should work with new processor. Give it a try. Keep your old i3 around just in case. Hi shivanandana I have dell laptop with intel -i5 g 1.
May be. If it is not, then no. Hi Shiva, Your blog on upgrading the processor is really interesting. You gave me a hope to upgrade my year Hp pavillion G6 laptop. Please guide me to upgrade my intel core i3 , M 2. Thanks in advance, Arunkumar.
Most of the laptops, unfortunately, feature the BGA socket for their laptop. Meaning the processors are soldered onto the socket and hence upgrading them is a pain to say the least. As mentioned earlier, CPU laptops are majority of the time soldered to the motherboard. In the BGA mounting type, the processor is permanently connected to the motherboard.
For this purpose, there are small solder balls under the CPU while the motherboard has small solder pads on it. However, you have to make sure that both the older and the newer processor also have the same socket on the motherboard.
The easiest way to figure out the surface mounting type of your laptop CPU is to head over to the its technical specs. Select your laptop's manufacturer ex: Lenovo. If your laptop can't have its memory or storage upgraded, the advisor will tell you so. Since this particular tool is from Crucial, it recommends Crucial's own products, but as long as you take note of the products' specs, you can buy memory or storage from other vendors.
Here's what to look for. If your laptop has a hard drive right now and you're upgrading it to an SSD, it's almost certain that you'll need a 2. Except for a few high-end workstations, most laptops use non-ECC, unbuffered memory. Some laptops have only a single slot, which comes filled, so you may need to completely replace your existing DIMM rather than just adding to it.
