Most washers come with four leveling legs at the base of the washer. To adjust the leveling legs, locate the locking nut on the leg and loosen it with a wrench. Then, turn the leg clockwise to lower the leg or counterclockwise to raise the leg. Adjust the legs until the washer is level. When you have verified that the washer is level, tighten the locking nuts to lock them in place.
Along with the washer needing to be level, the four leveling legs also need to be firmly on the floor to provide stability when the washer spins.
If the floor is too slippery to keep the washer balanced, it is recommended that you use non-skid pads to prevent the washer from moving during the cycle. The locking nuts that lock the legs in place also need to be tight against the base of the washer. Use a wrench to ensure that the locking nuts are tightly secured. This fix is not as common as the above, but if you are still struggling with the UE error code, then making sure the rotor mounting nut that secures the rotor assembly over the stator is tight may solve the issue.
You may also want to check that the mounting bolts that secure the stator are secured tightly as well. If the bolts appear damaged, replacing them may fix the issue. Make sure to disconnect the washer from the power source before removing the necessary panels to access the stator assembly. The suspension rods on a top-loader washer, and the shock absorbers on a front-loader washer, help to reduce the movement of the washer.
The UE error code may be caused by worn suspension rods or shock absorbers that may need to be replaced. Worn suspension rods or shock absorbers would be causing excessive noise and vibration during the spin cycle. Before removing the panels to access the suspension rods or shock absorbers, make sure to disconnect the washer from the power source. The suspension rods are attached to the outer tub and threaded through a support bracket. This code can be easily resolved without the need of a technician.
After 3 attempts to balance, the uE will change to UE, meaning the unit was unable to rebalance the load and requires assistance.
